Royersford Riverfront
Royersford, PA
The riverfront town of Royersford has an active Main Street scene with many shops and restaurants, although a piece was missing—a connection to the river. Historically, many towns along the Schuylkill had thriving industry that relied on the river’s waters, Royersford was no exception. As the industry left, the river remained disconnected from Main Street.
An ambitious owner saw the need for this connection and set out to find a way to make it happen. Barton Partners created the design and navigated a complex land development process that required new ordinances to be written with the borough for its approval. The resulting development connects Royersford’s Main Street to the riverfront, the renovated historic train trestle, and the newly constructed extension to the Schuylkill River Trail.
The building design pay homage to the industry that once sat on site, while integrating contemporary materials and details. The commercial and residential spaces are separated yet residents have easy access to the commercial. Residents also have access to a variety of amenities, including a roof top deck and elevated plaza with pool.
