Q&A

Best place you’ve ever been? - Dhaka, Bangladesh – a studio trip to the informal settlements for a Global Housing/ affordable housing project

If you could choose any two famous people to have dinner with, who would they be and what are you eating? - Zaha Hadid and Nelson Mandela. Shakshuka with Hadid. Probably have tea with Mandela.

Coffee, tea, soda or…? - Tea, anytime of the day!

What do you like most about design? - As someone once said, 99% of good design is invisible. I believe it was inspired by Buckminster (Bucky) Fuller’s quote: “Ninety-nine percent of who you are is invisible and untouchable”. Oftentimes, when the built environment is designed well, it integrates into our daily lives so seamlessly that we fail to notice it- it doesn’t feel foreign to us. Design should elevate the quality of life for its users, and that is what I use as my inspiration and enjoy the most about the field.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be? - Vermiculture – I’m starting to feel guilty about all the organic waste I’m producing in my kitchen
